3.2 What to do with the Shoulds

In today's podcast ep I wanted to practice what I think is one of the most valuable meditation skills – observing and dismissing our thoughts, particularly those that are really not helping us.

And the cool thing is that it's a skill you can take with you that can really help when anxious thoughts start to take over. (It's not just me that gets those, right?)

While this skill is honestly good for any thoughts that aren't working for you, I think it can be kind of hard at first to feel confident about exactly which thoughts are valuable for us to keep and which can be unceremoniously ousted. As a quick cheat sheet, I've started the episode detailing my top three anxiety red-flag thoughts – including “the shoulds,” which let's be honest, are rarely the kinds of thoughts that are helping us feel good in our day-to-day lives.

You can listen in above, and if you want to come back and enjoy this particular meditation again (I personally think it's a good one) just start the ep at 6 min. I hope it's helpful!

Take care,

Dr. Rebecca
